KRONE CHEFS IN RESIDENCE II: THE LEOPARD

KRONE CHEFS IN RESIDENCE II: THE LEOPARD

Krone | Try this Recipe: Salt-rubbed Harders with a Wild Greens Pesto

After the successful launch of the inaugural Krone Chefs In Residence in February 2025 in Tulbagh, Western Cape, Krone is excited to announce that the second series will take place in Johannesburg from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 November 2026 together with Andrea Burgener and Nick Gordon.

As two of the city’s most celebrated chefs, Burgener and Gordon will reprise The Leopard as a pop-up restaurant for one weekend only, cooking a total of three lunches over three days at Glenshiel in Westcliff.

After adding multiple highlights to Johannesburg’s food scene over three decades with restaurants including Superbonbon, Deluxe I and Deluxe II followed by The Leopard, which the pair have since reformatted into a deli, The Leopard will take up residence at Glenshiel, one of Johannesburg’s most important historic homes, to cook their cult classics with a twist for guests for three days.

The Leopard restaurant has long been famous for a compact but playful menu using the finest ingredients available, and which regulars will remember as a welcoming sit-down space where breakfast was served all day, and seasonal, globally inspired dishes were crafted from produce sourced from ethical and sustainable purveyors.

In February 2025, Krone proudly hosted a historic culinary event, welcoming global icons Margot Henderson OBE of Rochelle Canteen, London, and Rose Chalalai Singh of Rose Kitchen, Paris, with Fergus Henderson OBE of St. JOHN Restaurant and their son Hector Henderson of Rochelle Canteen to Tulbagh. It marked the launch of the Krone Chefs in Residence programme, the first of its kind in South Africa.

The Krone Chefs in Residence programme is a rare opportunity for guests to connect with culinary legends in a one-time-only setting and for chefs to take part in a vibrant incubator for creativity and hospitality, which builds upon Krone’s already successful artist residency programme.

This initiative marks the continuation of Krone’s broader vision to expand its global footprint and focus on connection, discovery, and collaboration with international and local talent they admire. It also maintains Krone’s vintage-only Cap Classique’s position at the head of the table.
