Enjoy this recipe for savoury cake ‘The Food XX Souttert Cake’ that was served at the 2022 FOOD XX Awards, courtesy of Studio H. It’s a match made in heaven with the Krone Borealis Cuvée Brut 2020.
- 3 eggs
- 375ml milk
- 30ml cake flour
- 6 – 10 viennas (vegetarian)
- 250ml roasted butternut pieces
- 250ml roasted broccoli pieces
- 250ml cheddar, grated
- 1 onion, grated
- Salt and pepper
- 50ml parsley, chopped
1. Pre-heat the oven to 180°C.
2. Mix all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
3. Divide the mixture into two cake tins.
4. Bake for 45 minutes to one hour, until set and cooked through.
5. Cool down completely and ice and decorate as desired. We used a mixture of cream cheese and a little bit of butter for our icing.
6. Top with a gold-glittered olive or two if you feel like it!
